Saw this on Semi-Rad and thought I'd take a stab at it.  So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving and in no particular order whatsoever...

5. Lookout Mountain, Tennessee 
The trails I run, the rocks I climb, the view from my commute -- one of my favorite places on earth.

 The most versatile soft good in my gear kit: alpine climbs, trail runs, parking lot duty at school.

A band whose discography grew up as I did. Dustin Kensrue is one of my favorite lyricists.

MxPx, NoFX, Lagwagon, Blink-182, "Dookie," etc., sometimes, music should just be FUN. 

13. Summer days at Sunset Park 
North facing bullet hard sandstone that stays in the shade. FWIW, my favorite crag in America.

South facing bullet hard sandstone that bakes in the sun. 
 
15. Arc’teryx - 35 
Inspiring little video by semi-rad, duct tape then beer, and arc'teryx. Watch a few times a year. 
 
16. Birthday challenges
 Number corresponding endurance objectives: 25 pitches for 25 years, 31 miles for 31 years, etc...

I like to watch an episode. Then watch it with commentary. Then listen to The Talking Simpsons podcast episode about that episode. I looooooooooooooooove these seasons of The Simpsons.

20. “Almost Alpine” 
The greatest rock climbing video ever made. Hilarious and filled with stoke. 
 
21. Night bouldering
Winter's respite. There's something magical about the woods at night. The bouldering is good too. 
 
22. Tuck Special at Edley's BBQ 
Texas brisket, pimento cheese, pickles, and a fried egg in between two golden buns. If that doesn't suit you, everything on the menu is amazing. 
 
23. MxPx 
They were punk music I could listen to in my mom’s mini-van. 17 years later, I'm still singing along.


24. Mr. Funnypants by Michael Showalter  
The only book that has ever made me laugh so hard I cried. 
 
25. The Examen 
Mindful, prayerful reviewing of the day, week, or season.  

26. Linville River Gorge
 If any "God's country" was indeed God's country, then surely this is God's country. 
 
27. Del and Marte’s campground at the Obed 
Lots of memories made at this incredible climbers' campground in east Tennessee. Beats the heck outta Miguel's. And Del has a microbrewery on site now. Southern hospitality at its backwoods' finest.

28. Wilderness Expeditions 
Lots of memories made working at this backpacking outfitter in Salida, Colorado. Lots of lessons learned taking kids up 13,000-14,000 ft mountains. Holds a special place in my heart. 
 
29. Kelso Ridge 
Early summer snow. Late summer rock. This classic rocky mountain ridgeline is pure fun. 
 
30. Fixe Hardware Original Alien Cam (yellow)  
The yellow Alien is to me what pink tricams are to old fuddyduddy trad dads on mountain project. Favorite piece.

"Be joyful, though you have considered all the facts."

Free bluegrass music every Friday night right outside Chattanooga.

Trilogy of manuals for the ancient practice of fixed-hour prayer.


39. Das Kapital Vol. 1 by Karl Marx 
Kind of important. "Capital is dead labour, that, vampire-like, only lives by sucking living labour, and lives the more, the more labour it sucks." Also, thiccest book I've ever read.

40. choss 
Matt Samet defines "choss" as loose, dirty, cruddy, unreliable rock.  One man's choss is another man's treasure. My treasure.

I geek out on elevation gain/change on my runs and Strava is the way I do it.

A music journalist once said people think us Southerners are plain stupid, "but we sure can sing." I often think the same thing about the religious tradition I was raised in.
